The spines have lovely gilt decoration and morocco and gilt labels. Each measures approx 22.5cm x 14.6cm x 2.7cm (ave). The boards have a few little surface scuffs in places, the top of one front board is a little faded, and the spine are a hint dulled/rubbed. Else, the bindings are attractive and firm. The outer edges are marbled (a little darkened to top edges). Internally, there are matching marbled endpapers to the front and rear. The contents of each have a little scattered foxing, a little heavier in places. A couple of leaves are a little darkened to fore edges. Else, the contents of each volume, are in mostly, good, crisp, bright and clean throughout.All volumes complete.Profusely illustrated throughout the text."The Newgate Calendar, was a popular collection of moralising stories about sin, crime, and criminals who commit them in England in the 18th and 19th centuries.
