For each featured castle there is a plan and several photographs, plus an account of its history and architectural features. Many other castles are illustrated and mentioned more briefly in the introductory chapters describing the features and development of medieval French castles from the late 10th century to the end of the 15th century. The condition of the book is generally very good. The covers have one or two very minor scuffs but are clean and bright, the spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
