Grant:Jedediah Morgan Grant, born on February 21, 1816, in Windsor, New York, emerged as a prominent figure in the early leadership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). Serving as a member of the First Council of the Seventy from 1845 to 1854, Grant later assumed a significant role in the First Presidency under the leadership of Brigham Young from 1854 to 1856. His impassioned speeches during the Reformation of 1856 earned him the moniker "Brigham's Sledgehammer."Baptized into the Church at the age of 17 by John F. Boynton, Grant quickly became immersed in the Latter Day Saint movement. He participated in Zion's Camp at the age of 18, marching from Kirtland, Ohio, to Missouri under Joseph Smith's direction. Grant's enduring connections with key figures from this period, including Brigham Young and Wilford Woodruff, shaped his lifelong commitment to the Church.Venturing as one of the early Latter-day Saint missionaries to Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia, Grant's preaching efforts in New Jersey led to the conversion of members of the Ivins family. In 1844, he joined a group of influential leaders campaigning for Joseph Smith's presidential bid. Following Smith's death, Grant served as a President of the Seventy and played a crucial role in the westward trek and settlement of the Salt Lake Valley.
