WW2 to POST WW2 SOUTH AFRICAN MILITARY ARMOURED REGIMENT HAT BADGE: THE SPECIAL SERVICE BATTALION.

This badge is not shown in chrome in Owens book, but for reference purposes it's the exact same as Owen number 1289, this one is in subdued copper bronze or brass (hard to tell) and is the cap and beret badge of the South African Special Services Battalion.

The Special Service Battalion was an Armor Regiment in the Permanent Force of the South African Army. It was founded in 1933 and participated in World War II, the Border war, the Angola campaign (1975-76), and the State of Emergency.
