 AASC Australian Army Service Corps was formed in Melbourne Victoria  in may1940 It was one of three sections of the supply ServiceAmmunition Company/Tasmania and the Petrol Company/South Australia were the other two units,the units were manly made from soldiers of the citizen Forces and civilian enlistees who joined at recruiting centers around Melbourne and Victorian towns,Assembly of the men was at Caulfield race track were issuing of uniform was done and the men then trucked to Puckapunyal for training,On the 27th of October AASC sailed out of Sydney on the ship Aquitanai on the morning of the 4th November they arrived at the Indian city of Bombay debarked there ship and headed 100km inland to the British camp at Deolali and did 10 day training before boarding the ship Nevasa headed for the Middle East on the 17th November they were joined byHMS Shropshire a few days later by the Anti-Aircraft Cruiser HMS Carlislethe corps landed at Palestine and headed to the Australian Army camp  Barbara located between the road and railway line with ran along the Mediterranean coast to JaffaIn late march 1941 the Unit moved by road to Egypt to arrive at Amirya just out side Alexandria
