Vickers-Maxim medium machine gun
Hard cover with 172 pages and Many Colour and Black & White Photos
An insight into the development, manufacture and operation of the Vickers-Maxim medium machine guns.
The Maxim gun was the first fully automated machine gun to be introduced into military service at the end of the 19th century. Gradually refined to become the Vickers 0.303in medium machine-gun, it was used widely by British and Commonwealth forces in both world wars. Operated by a three-man crew, it was popularly known as ‘the Vickers’. Firearms expert and acclaimed author Martin Pegler, a former Senior Curator of Firearms at the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds, describes the concept of an automated machine-gun and its potential use for land forces; its genesis, design, development and early trials; and the introduction by the UK military of the Vickers machine gun and its adoption for infantry, aircraft and armoured vehicles in the world wars of the 20th century.

Kalashnikov in Combat: Rare Photographs from Wartime Archives Book AK-47 Gun
The Kalashnikov assault rifle, generically known as the AK-47, is the most famous small arm ever made. This weapon has transcended its Soviet designer and country of origin to become the most prolifically produced and iconic weapon in the world and it has become a brand that has been used to sell everything from T-shirts to vodka. Although it first appeared in the late 1940s, it did not make its decisive presence felt on the battlefield until the Vietnam War when China supplied it to the Vietnamese communists. The weapon's durability became a legend. Since then it has been employed in practically every conflict around the globe, and it is seen as the symbol of the wars of national liberation. Probably its most celebrated moment came in the hands of the mujahideen fighting to oust the Soviets from Afghanistan. In Kalashnikov in Combat Anthony Tucker-Jones gives the reader a brief history of the weapon and he offers a visual record of the impact of the AK-47 on the battlefield up to the present day. His account is illustrated with a wealth of archive photographs ranging from Vietnam to the American-led invasion of Iraq and beyond. Soft cover with 130 pages and over 200 Black & White Photos
POSTAGE PRICING! - Dear All, Our postage prices are based on Current Royal Mail prices and all are sent 1st Class recorded (in the UK) and Air mail International Sign For for overseas orders. Our/Royal Mail p&p prices, go on weight, and are set by the Royal Mail, not us. And are not set at how many items in a box - they only go on weight (and books are heavy). In April 2024 Royal Mail have put up their prices, averaging from 15% to 40%, So sorry to say, but we now have to increase our postage prices too, so these prices advertised here are fixed, sorry, but this is beyond our control - Its down to Royal Mail, not us. This includes overseas postage too. And remember books are heavy, so hence not cheap to post anymore. As for sending any other way! Sorry its are company policy to send them that way, due to past miss-lead mail, not getting received and then we have the expense of re-sending goods out at our expense (loosing money). So sorry (1st Class recorded (in the UK) and Air mail International ‘Sign For’ for overseas orders), is the only way we send them. Please do remember that our books are very cheap, and buying from Europe etc is far better for you right now with the £ against the Euro etc.
Also, please note: that we lose out, as Ebay takes their cut, as does Paypal, so we 'on average', lose £5 from overseas sales (and now Ebay charges extra for postage too, thus we get even less!). So I am afraid, that our prices, are as listed. And are fixed. So please do not complain to us about our p&p Prices etc. If we can help on larger orders, please contact us first before placing an order and we shall try?But again, thanks for the enquiry and looking - Mark. Returns policy! Due to copyright laws, we can not accept any books for returns. However if you have received the wrong book by mistake, or the book is damaged in anyway whatsoever, we will be happy to replace it. But We are not responsible for the return postage costs - that is down to you.
