The Nile on eBay The Victorian Painter and the Poet's Wife by Ken Craven
The marriage of the American poet, T S Eliot, to Bury-born Vivienne Haigh-Wood has been fairly well documented but this book tells the story of her family in detail for the first time, with emphasis on her father, Charles - a hugely successful Victorian artist whose paintings still attain high prices at auction houses around the world. As well as telling Vivienne's story it also details the life of her brother, Maurice, who helped the playwright Michael Hastings when he was carrying out research for his play, Tom and Viv. This biography documents a family as they live through the Victorian era right through to the present time and contains family photographs as well as many examples of the artist's work.

I grew up in Manchester and after marrying in 1970 we moved north to the Bury area of Lancashire where our son was born. After retiring as a Research Officer for Salford Museum and Heritage Service, my wife and I moved to North Yorkshire in 2007 before relocating to Warwickshire in 2010, where we are enjoying watching our grandsons growing up. Always wanting to be a writer, and having an interest in local history, I began writing articles for local newspapers and county magazines as well as having short stories and poems broadcast on BBC local radio and I have also appeared on BBC TV North West. As well as my Kindle book, The Victorian Painter and the Poet's Wife, (my biography of the Haigh-Wood family), I have written three books about Bury local history. My first collection of poems, Sgt Pepper In Memoriam, appeared in 1990 and in 2014 was published as a Kindle eBook and a Create Space paperback.
