The author is described on the jacket flap as the ". . .Shakespeare of the Slavs and, in the eyes of young Russia, the rebel-laureate of the masses." Edited and with an introduction by Avrahm Yarmolinsky. The works are rendered into English by a variety of translators.In Toledano spine G5 with full green cloth covers, gilt titling & torchbearer ovals on black blocks on cover & spine; plain endpapers, black topstain. Volume lacks the dust jacket. Possibly published c.1945-63 (though 1936 date appears in book). ML #G62.1.The textblock had detached from the covers and has been imperfectly reattached; and with dark smudge opposite title page, inked tickmarks to t.o.c.; else a sturdy, clean, stabilized copy.
