Author Biography
Lyndon Davies is the author of Hyphasis . His poetry has appeared in the anthologies Poetry Wales-Forty Years and The Pterodactyl's Wing . Penny Hallas is an artist and art therapist who is involved with Poetry Jamboree, a festival in Hay on Wye.

In his second collection, Lyndon Davies attempts to imagine a shield for the complexities of the current era. What emblems would it carry? Who and what might it be protecting and against what, in a world in which oppositions are at once agonisingly entrenched and radically compromised? In the bristling arena of the shield, the narratives flash and jostle...The poems are interspersed with the powerful drawings of Penny Hallas, texts and visual images forming one troubling, many-dimensional work.

Author Comments
Lyndon was born and brought up in Cardiff and has lived in various parts of Britain and France. He studied English at Aberystwyth University. Lyndon now lives in Llangattock, Powys with his wife, a painter, and combines freelance writing with renovating an old house. His poems have appeared in Poetry Wales , New Welsh Review , and Fire , and also in the anthologies The Pterodactyls Wing (Parthian 2003) and Poetry Wales Forty Years (Seren 2005). He has written many reviews and essays including a series on poetry and art for Poetry Wales. His first major collection of poems entitled Hyphasis was published by Parthian in 2007. Penny Hallas is both an artist and an art therapist, two activities which inform and nourish one another. Over the last couple of years she has been collaborating with poets, Lyndon Davies and Graham Hartill on a series of cultural discussion groups, known as the Glasfryn Seminars. She is also involved with a festival of poetry in Hay on Wye, known as the Poetry Jamboree.
