Each chapter investigates a different aspect of the situation that ethnic minority groups face, including: their housing needs, the procedure of allocation of housing, patterns of housing settlement of black and other ethnic minority groups, and the employment of black and other ethnic minority staff in housing associations. This book also gives examples of the experiences and aspirations of the ethnic minority groups and relates them to subjects such as cultural differences which arise from housing associations which help a specific ethnic minority group.
Author Biography
Peter Somerville is a Reader in Policy Studies at the University of Lincolnshire and Humberside. He has researched widely in the field of 'race' and housing. Along with Andy Steele, he also conducted an investigation into career opportunities for ethnic minorities in housing associations in the North West of England and is currently completing a similar national project. He has also published works on social exclusion issues. Andy Steele is a Senior Lecturer in Social Policy and Social Research at the University of Salford. He also researches in the field of 'race' and housing. He has been responsible for studies of the housing needs of black and other minority ethnic groups.
