Nabokov's Dozen by Vladimir Nabokov, Franklin Library 1977, Limited Edition, IllustratedA lovely book from Franklin Library's 'The Collected Stories of the World's Greatest Writers' limited edition series, comprising 13 short stories by Nabokov (see photos for contents). Fully bound in real leather with 22kt gold decorations. All page edges gilt. Illustrated by John Keely. Printed on 'Eggshell wove' paper. Silk moiré endpapers and satin ribbon marker. A beautiful book. The binding, with the gold butterfly motifs deeply embossed, is one of the highlights from the 'Collected Stories' series (1977-1985).21.5cm x 15.5cm x 3cm (approx.)ConditionBeautiful unread condition. Binding decorations and page block gilt are bright and completely free of any foxing, corners sharp, spine hubs free from any dings. Ribbon marker perfect. The only small imperfections to note are a few very (very!) light marks to the fore-edge gilt (visible at certain angles) and a crease to the bottom corner of the pages (see last photo - it's small, but visible on about 2/3 of the pages - most likely a small imperfection caused at the time of binding). The Notes from the Editors pamphlet is in excellent condition with just a couple of light marks to the cover, and the steel staples showing some rust, as usual. All photos are my own and are of the actual book for sale. I collect Folio Society, Franklin Library, Limited Editions Club and Fine Press books of every description. Like most collectors, I have accumulated more books than I can possibly keep. I am very particular about the condition of my books and store them in glass or solid fronted cabinets in a low-light, temperature and humidity controlled room. I always show photos of all sides/edges of the book and will point out any flaws, however minor. I pride myself on accurate descriptions, clear photos, friendly and efficient service, and careful packaging.
