People often tell me what a great outlook I have on life; how nice it must be to be a 'morning person'; that having such a positive outlook is refreshing. Well, none of those things come easy. I firmly believe a conscious and consistent effort is needed to bring out the best in ourselves. Just as a duck may look calm, cool, and collected while effortlessly drifting across the pond, we all know it's kicking like crazy to maintain its smooth and graceful glide. This compilation of observations, referred to as 'Rhinobservations', were ideas I posted to my personal page on the Facebook(R) social network. The entries brought hundreds of unsolicited 'Likes' and positive comments from scores of friends and people I have never met. I am truly humbled at the thought that my ramblings have helped others, and must admit the posts were conceived as a personal reminder to keep kicking...like the duck. They're reminders that not every day is full of roses and cupcakes, but how I decide to handle the 'off' days will ultimately decide the likelihood of success, happiness, and relationships. Every day I am allowed to wake up is a renewed lease on life. It's a conscious choice whether to make the most of each day or allow the day to rule me. You have the same power. Use it wisely.

A long way from the days of living in a car with his mom, dad, and sister, in the middle of a Texas heat wave, Jim bounced through thirteen different schools before landing a more stable home in Centralia, Illinois; with his always encouraging grandmother (Gma) in the mid-1980's. While in High School, Jim worked to share stories of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness with hundreds of his peers in schools across Southern Illinois. For 17 years, Jim found happiness and home in the small Southern Illinois town of Salem. In 2015 he and his family relocated to the beautiful Inland Northwest area of Spokane Valley, Washington. With each new lease on life, Jim continues to help make the decision that life would be grand as long as he decided it to be so. He spent his young adulthood traveling North America as an inspirational speaker for both work and pleasure. Now in the world of Financial Services, Jim doesn't travel nearly as much, but certainly stays active as an involved father and dad (there is a difference) to his four children, Parker, Spencer, Emma, and Benjamin; all while sneaking moments of togetherness with Debbie, his bride and sweetheart since 1996.
