He sobrevivido a innumerables peligros. I have been held captive in the land of the Moors and hunted in my own home. I have survived countless perils. I have known joy and have also experienced heartbreak like a cruel stab in the heart. I have served the greatest king. I have helped build a kingdom."Archives tell that at the end of the 8th century, in times of the war between Muslims and Christians, King Mauregatus would chose the most beautiful of maidens from the kingdom and deliver them to the Emir of Córdoba, Abd al-Rahman I, in the Tribute of the Hundred Maidens .Thus begins the story of Alana, the daughter of an Asturian clan chief and Visigoth warrior, forced to leave her fort behind to become part of the emir's harem. Soon Alana will have to summon all her imagination and courage to escape captivity ... as the road back to the north is fraught with danger. In La visigoda / The Visigoth Isabel San Sebastián narrates a story of love and heroism, adventures and conspiracies; it is an exciting chapter in Spain's history. These are the memoirs of a brave and daring woman willing to sacrifice everything in search of freedom.
