This story follows the life of William, a young man who grows up in the Bronx, one of the toughest and most diverse neighborhoods in New York City. William loves his family, his friends, and his culture, but as a child he also dreamt of exploring the world beyond his block. He gets his chance when he changes his mind as he matures.William soon discovers that there is more to New York than Harlem where he was born. As a preteen, he lived in the Bronx, the historic center of African American culture and activism. He explores Brooklyn, Queens, and Staten Island, each with its own identity and history. He learns about art, music, literature, and politics from his experiences. He also faces challenges and conflicts, such as racism, peer pressure, violence, and love.William's journey is a coming-of-age story that shows how he grows as a person and as a citizen of the city. He learns to appreciate his roots, but also to embrace his opportunities. He finds his voice, his passion, and his purpose with writing and rapping HipHop lyrics. He realizes that New York is not just a place, but a state of mind.
