Seven rare horror tomes from the "Paperbacks from Hell" era, all in solid shape (see pics) and just in time for Halloween. With this lot, you'll be recieving:Charles L. Grant - The Hour of the Oxrun Dead, The Last Call of Mourning, The Grave : Three classic Tor 1980's editions of Grant's "quiet horror" classics in his "Oxrun Station" series. Grant is one of the true unsung heroes of the eighties paperback horror boom, both as an editor (the essential Shadows series) and as a novelist/short story author in his own right. These three exemplify everything great about the man's writing...atmosphere, a surreal sense of things being "off", and wonderful character writing centered around a central locale a la King's Castle Rock and Derry. In fact, were I to come up with a reductive summation, Grant can be described as the perfect combination of Stephen King and Ramsey Campbell. These one's will stick with you.William W. Johnstone - Wolfsbane : Excellent trashy pulp released on the best, trashiest purveyor of eighties horror - Zebra. Johnstone, better known for his Western novels and the "anti-woke" thrillers written by his niece using his name, always delivered the goods, this one being a grimy, Southern-set hybrid of werewolf and zombie lore.J.V. Lewton - Just Pretend : Excellent release on Pinnacle/Zebra's Z-Fave line that attempted to bridge the gap between their brand of horror sleaze and the popular Fear Street series by R.L. Stine. This particular tome is written by Zebra mainstay Stephen Gresham under the pseudonym J.V. Lewton and is a tense, amusing, atmospheric tale of a 16 year old clairvoyant attempting to save a little girl from a madman. Imagine a Fear Street book with legitimately good writing and scares...that is what this provides.Graham Masterson - The Manitou : The scarce movie tie-in edition of Masterson's insane seventies classic, a tale of a Native American demon growing like a tumor out of a woman's back. Gross, well-researched, and containing some fine allusions to Lovecraft...a fun movie, but a legitimately nightmare-inducing read.Mama - Ruby Jean Jenson : Ruby Jean Jensen was the MVP of the Zebra horror line and this is one of the best of her evil doll books. Classic cover art and the book itself is a fun, no frills bunch of fun. Hard-to-find and hard to put down.I ship within a day of receipt of payment to anywhere in the continental US.
