Author Biography
Mrinalini Sinha is Associate Professor of History at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, USA and the North American co-editor for Gender & History. Her books include Colonial Masculinity: The 'manly Englishman' and the 'effeminate Bengali' in the late nineteenth century (1995) and a newly edited and introduced edition of Katherine Mayo's 1927 classic Mother India. She is currently working on a monograph on the controversy over Mayo's Mother India that is tentatively entitled Refashioning Mother India: Gender in the Making of a Nationalist Indian Modernity. Donna J. Guy is Professor of History at the University of Arizona. Author of Sex and Danger in Buenos Aires: Prostitution, Nation and Family in Argentina (1991), and co-author with Daniel Balderston of Sex and Sexuality in Latin America (1997), she has also published many articles about the history of women in Argentina. Currently she is preparing a book about state policies toward street children in Argentina, one that deals with gender, family, and the state. Angela Woollacott is Associate Professor of History and teaches in the Women's Studies program at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, USA. Her publications include On Her Their Lives Depend: Munitions Workers in the Great War (1994) and, co-edited with Miriam Cooke, Gendering War Talk (1993). She is currently working on Australian Women in London 1870-1940, including issues of colonialism in the metropolis, modernity, whiteness, gender and national versus imperial identities.
