Sir Edmund Kerchever Chambers, KBE CB FBA (16 March 1866 – 21 January 1954), usually known as E. K. Chambers, was an English literary critic and Shakespearean scholar. His major works of dramatic history are The Medieval Stage (2 vols, 1903), The Elizabethan Stage (4 vols, 1923), and William Shakespeare: A Study of the Facts and Problems (2 vols, 1930). As well as editions of all Shakespeare's plays for the Red Letter Shakespeare and an important lecture on ‘The Disintegration of Shakespeare’ (1924) he published Arthur of Britain (1927), a synthesis and reassessment based on available evidence; editions of Donne, Milton, Beaumont and Fletcher, among others; and the Oxford Book of Sixteenth Century Verse (1932).
