Silent Films to Talkies - A History of the Empire Cinema Littleport, by Norman C. FieldPublished by the Littleport Society, 28 pages. A5 size booklet (N7709X1)From the foreword (written in 1989): When Bruce Frost, on behalf of the Littleport Society, invited me to write something of the history of Littleport cinema, I felt very privileged to accept the commission. At the time I thought the task would be relatively straight forward as I have in my possession, notes about the cinema made during the conversations with my father in his lifetime. My brothers Harold (born 1908) and Roy (born 1910) were both taken to the cinema as toddlers and then as teenagers and adults they actively helped father in the projection room. I have sought their help and advice in checking my account and they both agreed to add to this their own recollections, covering in all a period from 1907-1934. We hope that you will enjoy this trip into the past with us...The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The covers have one or two very minor scuffs, but the staple spine is intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound.
When we post our books, we take great care in packaging them - first your book will be wrapped in bubblewrap, which protects the book and even keeps out any rain (in the event that it's raining when the postie delivers it!). Then we wrap your book in stiff cardboard, taking care to make sure all the corners are protected, and finally the package is wrapped in thick brown paper.
