Mr. Lake passed away in 2014, cutting short a promising career that saw him garner the Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 2004, multiple Hugo, World Fantasy and Locus award nominations and, unfortunately posthumous, Locus and Endeavour awards for Best Collection awarded the year after his death. Though somewhat unrecognized publicly, his work received consistently positive reviews and he likely would have had a large impact in the field had he lived a longer life. There being no hardcover edition, this trade paperback format edition is the true first edition. Condition is Near Fine, with some ,mild tanning to the page edges being the only flaw. The binding remains square, no loose pages and the wraps are unmarked. No dust jacket as published. Not ex-library or remaindered and from a smoke and pet free home.
