Boston and the Great Civil War, by A.A. Garner
Book published by Richard Kay in 1992, 70 pages. A5 size booklet (N4613PEOS)
This booklet provides a fascinating and detailed history of the Lincolnshire town of Boston during the English Civil War...
From the rear side cover: Boston's alleigance to the Roundhead cause, its position, and the intelligent use which was made of both, made its role in the conflict frequently a decisive one. It was decisive for Lincolnshire, for the Eastern Counties (the base of Cromwell's power), and in some ways for the nation at large. Chapters include:
Eve and onset of warEnemy at the gatesInternal StrifeGarrison townThe Second Civil WarCommonwealth strongholdSeveral appendices, including Boston Cannon, military burials, Edmund Syler's Company, and biograpghical notes.
The condition of the booklet is generally very good. The cover has one or two very minor scuffs, but the staple spine is tight and intact, and all pages are clean, intact, unblemished and tightly bound. There is some light rusting around the staples.
When we post our books, we take great care in packaging them - first your book will be wrapped in bubblewrap, which protects the book and even keeps out any rain (in the event that it's raining when the postie delivers it!). Then we wrap your book in stiff cardboard, taking care to make sure all the corners are protected, and finally the package is wrapped in thick brown paper.
