About the Book

The goal of the authors in presenting this analysis of the Federal Income Tax Act is to make it as complete as possible without going into a detailed discussion of its provisions.

The authors have attached to this Law a copy of the Law, as well as important Treasury Regulations and forms in accordance with it.

In this discussion, reference will be made to the law by paragraphs and subsections of paragraphs.

The legislation discussed in this book is section 2 of the Tariffs Act, passed on October 3, 1913.

Subsection 1 of paragraph A shall impose an ordinary tax of one percent per annum on all net profits arising from or accruing from all sources in the previous calendar year to the named persons.

It also provides that this tax must be levied, levied and paid annually on all net profits from all property owned and from every business, trade, or profession carried out in the United States by persons residing in other countries.

Paragraph B defines the sources of taxable income.
