Condition	Book is in acceptable condition: there are no missing pages, and the book is NOT an ex-library copy but the text block is separating in two places. This book may have markings, tanning, fading and wear at corners and edges. The book was published only three times before the cover art was changed to remove the depiction of a smoker. I do not know if the previous owner smoked, had pets, read in the bathroom, etc.

Please note that I continually see listings on eBay from sellers who are describing books as first editions that are obviously (to a knowledgeable collector or dealer) not first editions. Nancy Drew debuted around 1930 and the books originally came with dustjackets. The publisher started revising the texts beginning back in 1959. Later in 1962, the publisher changed the format to the yellow spine, matte picture cover editions. This book is the second printing of the original text (25 chapters, 200+ pages) in the picture cover format. The cover art was changed after three print runs to eliminate any depiction of smoking. This book has the correct Farah designation.

When the publisher began revising the books, the stories were shortened, while the vocabulary was reduced somewhat, and outdated phrases and stereotypes were eliminated. Many feel that the writing was better in the original texts, but that judgment will be left to the individual reader. This book has the original text with over 200 pages.
